Finding Your Tribe

When I first started my business, I thought success was about doing everything myself.

Like many assistants, I prided myself on being capable, resourceful and independent. I was used to solving problems, finding answers and making things happen. But over the years, I've learned one of the most valuable lessons in both business and life:

We are not meant to do it alone.

In fact, some of the greatest opportunities, friendships and business successes I've experienced have come not from working harder, but from finding the right people to walk alongside me.

As a busy mum of two, running multiple businesses and juggling the endless demands that come with family life, I've seen first-hand how important it is to have people around you who bring different perspectives, skills and expertise into your world. None of us can be experts at everything, and none of us should have to carry everything alone.

That's one of the reasons being part of the team behind the East of England Assistants Conference means so much to me.

When Clare, Sam and I came together to bring this event to life, it quickly became clear that each of us brings something unique to the table. We have different experiences, different strengths and different ways of thinking. Rather than competing with one another, those differences have become our greatest asset.

Together, we've created a partnership that is stronger because of our individual expertise.

Watching this conference grow from an idea into reality has been an incredible reminder of what happens when the right people come together around a shared vision.

And that's exactly what we want this conference to create for every assistant who walks through the door on 17th September.

The Power of Connection

Alongside my work as a Business and Lifestyle Organiser, I also run networking events for women in business through Inspire Networking.

Over the years, I've watched women walk into a room feeling nervous, uncertain and often wondering whether they'll fit in.

I've then watched those same women leave with new ideas, new opportunities and, perhaps most importantly, new friendships.

The truth is that networking isn't really about networking at all.

It's about connection.

It's about finding people who understand your challenges because they're facing similar ones themselves.

It's about sharing experiences, learning from one another and realising that you're not the only person trying to navigate the ups and downs of business ownership.

Some of the most valuable relationships in my own life started with a simple conversation at a networking event.

Those conversations have led to business opportunities I never could have predicted. They've led to collaborations, partnerships and lifelong friendships. They've introduced me to people who have supported me through challenges and celebrated my successes.

That's the power of finding your tribe.

A Different Approach to Networking

When I relaunched Inspire Networking, I knew I wanted it to feel different from traditional networking events.

You won't find pressured introductions, awkward sales pitches or competitive room dynamics.

Instead, we've created something that feels more like brunch with friends.

A space where people can relax, be themselves and build genuine relationships.

Because when people feel comfortable, conversations become more authentic.

When conversations become more authentic, trust develops more quickly.

And when trust develops, real relationships begin to form.

I've always believed that networking works best when people stop focusing on what they can sell and start focusing on who they're talking to. Taking away the pressure allows conversations to flow naturally, making it easier to build meaningful connections.

The result is something much more valuable than a business card exchange. It's the opportunity to find your people, build your support network and create connections that can positively impact both your business and your life.

Why This Matters for Assistants

The assistant industry is built on relationships.

Whether you're a Virtual Assistant, Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant or business support professional, your success often depends on the quality of the connections you build.

Yet many assistants work remotely, independently or behind the scenes.

It can sometimes feel isolating.

That's why events like the East of England Assistants Conference matter so much.

Yes, you'll learn from expert speakers.

Yes, you'll leave with practical strategies and insights.

But you'll also have the opportunity to meet people who truly understand your world.

People who face the same challenges, celebrate the same wins and appreciate the incredible value assistants bring to businesses every single day.

You never know which conversation might change the direction of your business.

You never know who might become your next collaborator, referral partner, mentor or friend.

Find Your Tribe

At its heart, this conference isn't just about learning.

It's about belonging.

It's about bringing together assistants from across the region and creating a space where they feel seen, supported and inspired.

For me, that's the most exciting part.

Because I've experienced first-hand what happens when you surround yourself with the right people.

I've seen the opportunities that emerge.

I've built friendships that I know will last a lifetime.

And I've watched communities transform the confidence, wellbeing and success of the people within them.

So, if you're joining us in Cambridge on 17th September, my challenge to you is simple:

Be open.

Start conversations.

Share your experiences.

Listen to others.

And most importantly, give yourself permission to find your tribe.

Because the right people can change everything.

And if you haven't got your ticket yet, what are you waiting for?

A room full of connection, collaboration, inspiration and opportunity is waiting for you. Your tribe could be sitting just one conversation away.
